ARTIST NOTES: ‘Cornish Blue with lace’ was inspired by a family trip to the township of Cows, on Phillip Island.
I saw a large set of Cornish Blue crockery for sale in an antique shop. The sun was streaming through the window and highlighting the glaze on the crockery. I always like to try to challenge myself and try something different in each of my artworks. I have never drawn glazed pottery pieces such as these, so I took multiple reference photographs including ones of various lace clothes to work on back in the studio. Each piece was drawn separately then arranged and merged digitally.
The digital image was created with the App Procreate using a hand stylus on an iPad.
The image was meticulously hand drawn, taking over 38 hours to produce.
It was professionally printed on Ilford Cotton Rag paper 310gsm and is an excellent quality archival image.
