Hello, My name is John Stewart and I live in Sunbury Victoria. I have been learning drawing and watercolours at Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre in Gisborne. I have enjoyed my return to art after a very long hiatus while I got a degree got a job teaching raised a family and all the other stuff that distracted me until now. When I retired in 2019 I promised myself that I would get back into art as my mother and sister were both accomplished artists. My wife and I spent a year living in the South of France in 2020 (mostly in lockdown!) and it gave me a lot of inspiration for some of my artwork. As soon as we returned to Australia I enrolled to learn drawing. I paint in a representational style as I am not interested in abstract art. I am fascinated by the human built environment and this is reflected in many of my paintings. Boats, aircraft and streetscapes that make up the majority of my work. I hope to continue my studies and learn as much as I can about watercolour painting and perhaps branch out at some stage into other mediums. I would also be available for commission work.
